Thailand’s Commerce Ministry will escalate Malaysia’s suspension of five Thai shrimp species to WTO and ASEAN discussions while pushing 13 urgent measures to redirect exports, absorb 400 tonnes a month and protect the seafood trade.

Thai shrimp farmers have sought urgent government help after Malaysia moved to suspend imports of five Thai shrimp species from June 1, raising fears of oversupply and falling farm-gate prices, especially in the South.
